The discovery of graphic tablet and post-production's endless possibilities was a turning point for Gastel. Under his hands it became magic. Finally he could shape his dreams and transform “pure” photographs into mysterious images like his visions. It was time for art: museums opened their doors to him. His books, about poetry, autobiography, photography, philosophy, followed one another. All creative experiences attracted him. We have shared many of these.

Gastel continued to take beautiful photos more and more requested by fashion greats. Flavio Lucchini, who remained a friend even after he left publishing, had already shifted to art for a while.

Giovanni Gastel, an extraordinary man, photographer, artist, poet, writer of undisputed greatness, passed away in a moment of Covid. Grandson of the filmmaker Luchino Visconti, from a noble and wealthy family, in order to be a photographer he paid his dues like many others, starting from scratch. It just so happened that the beginning of his career was precisely in Edimoda, publishing house of Donna and Mondo Uomo, revolutionary fashion magazines created by Flavio Lucchini and which in the 80s even outclassed Vogue Italia and L'Uomo Vogue, created right by Lucchini. I ran Donna, and I introduced him to the magical fashion world.

If I think back to my life intertwined with that of Giovanni Gastel, the first memory that comes to my mind is this thin and introverted boy who, selected by Flavio who was the art director, I was given to make Donna's cover by Ferré which Toscani had to do when he left in a sudden fit of temper...

cc-tapis reminds me a sort of carpets Jean Paul Gaultier. Fantasy, experimentation, re-invention, break with coventional ideas starting from tradition (which exists but cannot be seen). A trio of friends including a girl of Persian origin, long trips to Nepal, the desire to innovate. A maximum creativity's artists and designers pool. Daniele Lora, architect and art director tells the story of these revolutionary carpets. They look like everything except usual carpets.

A carpet company that in a few years has upset the market's sector. What did this revolution trigger?
The modus operandi which distinguishes us is to always work looking forward and little backward, with consequent problems...

It is undeniable that technology is going to be more and more a strategic support in many different ways in the life of a modern company: from production to communication, from new technologies to artificial intelligence but... what happens when materials become "immaterials"? Let's look at a historical furniture company, a young architect already in the running, the common love for strong, well-made, long-lasting and innovative things, a “sincere” sustainability as a common factor. Thus Giovanni Tomasini's sculpture-chairs are perfect interpreters of Riva 1920 updated to 2021.

In order to celebrate its hundredth anniversary, the historic Riva 1920 "carpentry", today a leading company in the production of solid wood furniture designed by great architects, has opened its doors to a young Lombard designer who aspired since high school to approach this reality whose mission has remained unchanged since then and which Riva family sums up in “produce honestly to hand down to future generations furniture able to challenge time while fully respecting the environment”...

After Sanremo Festival and online Milan and Paris Fashion Weeks, among social and mass media, eyes are full of spectacular fashion contaminated with stage and virtual catwalks. What's clear is that pandemic has no set limits to imagination.

Sexual fluidity, mutants of all kinds, returns to the future, tributes to the past, mixologies, spectacular nudity, theatrical costumes or chaste white tailor-suits for women but tuxedos with jet for men, minimalism and excess: the fashion lexicon of the latest Italian digital-fashion shows is reinterpreted in extreme version on the catwalk of the just ended Sanremo festival. Where there was no shortage of creations with powerful brands.

The French-Algerian artist Neïl Beloufa on show in Milan with “Digital Mourning” curated by Roberta Tenconi. After Trisha Baga and Daniel Steegmann Mangrané, Pirelli HangarBicocca continues the research path among  new aspecs of video and digital art, tracing the contemporary ranks through artists who have made cutting-edge devices their own form of discussion and experimentation.

In 2014 Art had already predicted a Pandemic outbreak and the digital human response, with an Artwork/TV series. This is how Neïl Beloufa welcomes us to his first Italian monographic exhibition. The Screen Talk interactive installation opens the show and invites the audience to choose which premonitory episode to watch in the maxi screen just in front of him...

In the current context of the transformation of the digital sector in Italy, Hangar21 will be inaugurated on March 8 in Milan in the Superstudio Più complex, via Tortona 27. It’s a multimedia production house equipped with the most modern technologies. It's created to promote the dissemination of digital culture, facilitate, enhance, and concretize the ideas of anyone who wants to express their talent through the production and publication of digital and creative content.
