Superstudio Events, which grew out of parent company Superstudio Group, has acquired a majority stake in the company that runs events at Spring Studios New York. The TriBeCa venue is the first step in an international project with far-reaching ambitions.
It is a move that shows just how far Superstudio has come. What began with photography studios in Milan grew into venues where fashion, design, art and business meet. Flavio Lucchini and Gisella Borioli began building that world in 1983; their nephew Tommaso Borioli joined them ten years ago. Now Superstudio has an address in the heart of Manhattan.
“New York is where we plant our international flag,” says Tommaso Borioli, CEO of Superstudio Events, the company entrusted with the group’s events and related services. His ambition is to take the model developed in Milan to other capitals: a model in which spaces bring people together, supported by services, technology and production.
The move into the United States follows the recent acquisitions of Audiolux, which specialises in audio, video and lighting, and EPhoto, a producer of visual content for fashion and luxury.
For the young, forward-looking Borioli, with the founders’ blessing, this first New York address already makes a statement. Having helped turn Milan into an international destination for creativity, Superstudio is bringing its experience to Manhattan. A new connection between the two cities has begun. And it is unlikely to stop there.
