Humanoid robots interacting with the audience, artificial intelligences transformed into domestic objects, immersive installations capable of blending the real and the virtual: during Milan Design Week 2026, Superstudio Più became a gigantic laboratory dedicated to the future. Among interactive environments, phygital experiences, and digital scenographies, SuperNova brought together some of the most visionary projects of the entire Milan Design Week, confirming how technology and design are often inseparable languages.

Starting with Samsung Electronics, which with “Design is an Act of Love” showcased the most human side of technology. Inside the Samsung Design Open Lab, concepts, prototypes, and products narrated an idea of innovation that is increasingly emotional, everyday, and personal, where design becomes the bridge between people and technology.

105.000 VISITORS, 3 DISTRICTS, 1 VISION. It was not just a successful Design Week. It marked a change of scale. With the 2026 edition, Superstudio redefined the geography of design by turning a platform spread across multiple districts and neighborhoods into a true urban ecosystem. From Tortona to Barona and Bovisa, Superstudio Più, Superstudio Maxi and the new Superstudio Village created a connected map of the city, shaping one of the most ambitious projects of the entire Milan Design Week.

The numbers tell the scale of the transformation brought about by the event hub conceived by Design Week Superstudio: over 105,000 visitors throughout the week, compared to 87,000 in 2025.

Words, messages, poetic “shards,” in the language of the street now fresco the façades of the buildings at Superstudio Più. Crafted entirely by hand, without the aid of stencils or projectors, these are the murals of ivan: works conceived to inspire and to kindle dreams. With a delicate touch, the street poet and his team of young talents 21-year-old calligrapher Pietro Gonzalo, alongside writers Ivo Molino and Pietro Dalrì invite passersby to lift their gaze to the sky and, if only for a moment, pause amid the sparkling whirl of Milan Design Week. Their words remind us that “only dreaming will keep us awake” and that “those who cast seeds to the winds will one day make the sky bear fruit”. Gentle fragments, evocative thoughts: these are the artist’s extra-large mural gifts to the venue on Via Tortona. Discovered and championed by our own Gisella Borioli some 20 years ago, when street artists were still dismissed as vandals and defacers, ivan now returns with a magnificent work of street art that is also a gesture of gratitude and affection. And Superstudio, today as then, welcomes it and sends its message even further.

Exclusive, vibrant, and full of surprise: the opening party at Superstudio Più launched Milan Design Week 2026 with a night that brought together leading figures and bold visions from across the international creative scene. A high-voltage debut that turned anticipation into pure momentum.

In the heart of Milan Design Week, the Barona district venue becomes an exclusive stage for a series of star-studded talks. Free and open to the public, they promise conversations that break away from rules, formats and conventions — the kind of rare encounters capable of capturing and articulating the very essence of contemporary creativity. Three appointments for a day not to be missed.

For this edition of Superstudio Design, Honda involves students and teachers in a special creative and shared journey through workshops in which visions and ideas about the future are transformed into real concepts, also thanks to the use of AI.

On the expansive terrace of Superstudio Più, the Re.Circle program, curated by Ivan Tresoldi, comes to life. A vibrant lineup of open studios, live painting, performances, slam sessions, and conversations with key figures from Street Culture creates a dynamic platform to reflect on the evolution of street art, whose journey toward recognition and wider acceptance in Milan began right here at Superstudio Più back in 2006, opening the way for all forms of artistic expression rooted in the street.

THE SENSORY JOURNEY BY SOGIMI
​​​​​​​With “Shadow Crackers”, Sogimi brings to life an immersive path among the sculptures of Jacopo Mandich and the audiovisual installations of Eric Oder. Among dim lights, LED walls and dark spaces, visitors interact with iron, sounds and lights and set off on a sensory journey that combines art and technology and lifts the imagination to a higher level.

During Milan Design Week, Superstudio Più presents "Stop & Look," a contemporary little bazaar where shopping for art and design souvenirs during the week becomes a way to support young creatives. Each item is offered with a donation to support projects to stimulate and enhance the creativity of new generations.

During Milan Design Week, Superstudio Più is inventing "Stop & Look: All is Art," a new format in the city that transforms shopping into a concrete gesture in support of young creatives with dedicated training and visibility projects.

From 15 to 26 April, Istituto Marangoni presents Design Awakens, a citywide journey that interprets design as a living force, capable of rebirth, reinvention and evolution, engaging in ever-new dialogues with spaces and people. It is a vibrant itinerary, with key stops at Superstudio Più and Superstudio Maxi, where installations and international collaborations transform objects, environments and technologies into dynamic, immersive experiences.

Design does not merely present itself: during Milan Design Week it stirs, ignites, colours and illuminates, becoming more dynamic than ever, able to engage, intrigue, inspire and captivate.

Superstudio Village in Bovisa opens with Superstudio Design 2026, presenting SuperPlayground, a platform dedicated to emerging young talents and experimental design. This revitalized space hosts an international selection of 32 designers, chosen through an open call from over 200 applications coming from more than 30 countries.

IIn this open, inclusive context, charged with a sense of novelty, material research is expressed through hybrid surfaces and construction systems in Abele Malpiedi’s “Z Series: Hybrid Skin”; at the same time, cultural and identity dimensions take shape in Abreham’s Ethiopian-inspired transformable seat “Gabata” and in the contemporary rituals of “Ancestral” by Acmé.

The debut of debuts: a new venue, new projects, new creatives for an extraordinary carousel of ideas, visions, prototypes, and installations, all about fun and innovation.

This merry-go-round in search of something new unfolds through 33 small presentations of original, sometimes surprising, objects, selected from over 200 submissions by independent designers and startups from around the world. An entire pavilion is dedicated to graphic design and the poster contest on display. The immersive installation of hot air balloons transformed into soft, intimate architectural structures will astonish visitors.

SuperCity is the city where everything is allowed, as in the minimalist exhibition that pairs seductively simple objects with artistic photography. Or where furnishings become sculptures composed of semi-precious stones and refined bathrooms play with transparencies. Not to mention the panels in various materials that light up on command and the fairytale-inspired tableware by Alessi.

Caterina Roppo develops, with Incalmi, a material research that intertwines fabric, light and metal. 

Her project “galateo ancestrale” consists of a series of works born from fabrics later crystallized in copper, in which matter is fixed and transformed, giving life to suspended forms. 
A project that invites slowing down and listening, centered on breath as a primary gesture of awareness.

With “Il Tornitore Matto” (The Mad Turner), Alessi reinvents sheet turning, an ancient technique at the heart of household objects.

Just as the Mad Hatter in the story Alice in Wonderland interprets the world in his own way, this project challenges industrial processes and technological limits, transforming artisanal skills into surprising contemporary objects, balancing creative freedom with technical rigor.
"Il Tornitore matto" is an experimental platform created by Alberto Alessi and Giulio Iacchetti that explores new forms of design between industry and craftsmanship. 
Alessi's imaginative landscape is thus enriched with a new chapter that meets all desires and trends.

Art and design meet in an increasingly fluid dialogue, where the boundaries between disciplines blur to create a light and subtle balance. And it is precisely on this balance that Art Boulevard by Living Divani is built, where the large silver sofa island designed by Piero Lissoni for Living Divani becomes central: it organizes the space, dividing it in two. On one side rise the imposing burnished steel totems by Flavio Lucchini, on the other the sculptures by Maria Cristina Carlini which, made of wood, corten steel and ceramic, express a continuous search for natural, environmentally conscious and aesthetically appealing materials. The works—both the totems and the sculptures—fit harmoniously into the space, coexisting like mysterious inhabitants in the imaginary city envisioned by art director Giulio Cappellini.

SuperCity is an exhibition format that breathes like an open city. Its elements coexist within the same large, free-flowing space, like a vast, traversable gallery. The SuperCity concept was conceived by art director Giulio Cappellini, our longtime art director brings his ever-innovative vision to the most original presentations.

As in this case, the immense 7,500-square-meter space of Superstudio Maxi serves as a grand plaza showcasing iconic Made in Italy objects and the artworks that surround them, immersing them in emptiness, a precious and increasingly rare element that allows thoughts to emerge. Five small exhibitions of furnishings and accessories tell stories of art, design, and elegance.

The marathon between the three Superstudio Design venues easily invites visitors to a moment of relaxation. 
Giulio Cappellini did not want to deprive his audience of this precious opportunity to reflect and admire while resting. 
Here, a magical sofa appears like a happy island nestled in an ocean of art and furnishings that dialogue with art.

From the refined fabrics of a famous Italian brand that adorns the most elegant homes, to the ceramic marble surfaces that characterize the kitchen of Paola Navone's bistro, to the chairs revisited with an ultra-contemporary design, here we discuss furnishings for the spaces of tomorrow. Not to mention a glimpse of the moon with a virtual journey to the planet recently rediscovered thanks to the new Artemis mission, which orbited around it, revealing its never-before-seen underside.

In the Atelier of the FLA Museum, the exhibition “Skyscrapers” transforms architecture into narrative and metaphor, bringing into dialogue two complementary visions: that of the resident artist Flavio Lucchini and that of the photographer Giangiacomo Rocco di Torrepadula, known as GG.

The starting point is the skyscraper, an absolute icon of modernity. But while Lucchini sees it as a symbol of humanity’s visionary power, GG turns it into an intimate reflection on freedom.

A successful designer, Franco Perrotti has created furniture and projects for some of the most prominent international design brands, while simultaneously pursuing a personal artistic research that has led him toward impactful installations and sculptures capable of addressing profound themes, including political and social issues.

In the exhibition curated by Fortunato D’Amico, “Franco Perrotti: From Object to Vision”, on view at MyOwnGallery, design, art, and craftsmanship intertwine to become a single expressive language—a continuous dialogue between function and perception, between artifice and nature. Surfaces, lights, and seating abandon their original function to become “vision.” They are no longer mere furnishings, but bridges between body and environment, compasses that guide our collective behavior.

Ross Lovegrove, Toyo Ito, Ankon Mitra. Three archistars for three visions of the future. Creative, courageous, free to think, design, and most importantly, dream and make others dream. 

Together with them we explore different ways of thinking about living environments, perhaps influenced by their culture: Japan for Toyo Ito, India for Ankon Mitra, England for Ross Lovegrove.

“SPACE” reflects on contemporary mobility and transforms the car from a means of transport into an intimate and fluid space that travels with people.

Lexus presents one of the most sophisticated and sensitive reflections on contemporary mobility with “SPACE,” an installation that goes beyond the technical dimension of the automobile to question the very meaning of movement—no longer, or not only, as a transfer from a starting point to a destination, but as a journey made of experiences, emotions, and perceptions.

The electronics giant explores the most human side of innovation, with an installation centered on emotions and everyday life.

From technological efficiency to a love for creativity. Almost counterintuitively, hi-tech giant Samsung Electronics presents “Design is an Act of Love,” an installation that shifts technology’s focus toward the more intimate and relational dimension of design.

A mural that reminds us of the power of imagination is the gift of ivan, the street poet who invites us to “throw seeds into the wind to make the sky bloom” at Superstudio for its 25 years of design and 20 years of support for street art.

When the Berlin Wall with its libertarian paintings was considered a symbol of independence, young people who claimed peripheral walls to express their fantasies in Milan were all considered illegal vandals deserving fines, trials and other deterrent measures, Gisella Borioli invited Sharp and Daze, American superstar writers, to exhibit in the new MyOwnGallery at Superstudio Più.

Twenty-five years after the launch of the Fuorisalone across the city — starting from Superstudio and the emerging Zona Tortona — it is time to shift perspective and look ahead, drawing on past experience. Two viewpoints clearly embody this transition: the exhibition dedicated to Marcel Wanders, an exhibitor since the very first year, and the opening performance by dancer Yoann Bourgeois, poised in balance over the void.

​​​​​​​In 1983, the founders of what would become the most iconic group in the representation of events and creative, technological, and forward-thinking practices realized, from their first headquarters—“Il 13” in Via Forcella—that the “Zona Tortona” had great potential and could become the heart of a new Milan. Years later, the former working-class and industrial area has become a vibrant center of ideas and opportunities, a focal point for fashion, design, art, as well as social development. The vision of a creative and exhibition district has been fully realized. In today’s Tortona District, major fashion brands coexist with seven museums, cultural centers, photography studios, theaters, arthouse cinemas, countless restaurants, repurposed spaces turned into event venues, design hotels, modeling and communication agencies, and a population of young people looking ahead. The challenges of the years have not slowed its development; on the contrary, they have stimulated new ambitions. Twenty-five years after the first event that anticipated the phenomenon of “diffused design,” born precisely at Superstudio Più, a new step is taken. 
This anniversary is celebrated with a special edition of art and design taking place across three of our Milan venues with three projects: Superstudio Più with SuperNova, Superstudio Maxi with SuperCity, and Superstudio Village with SuperPlayground. And with a major opening party featuring, among many creatives, the extraordinary anti-gravity dance performance by choreographer Yoann Bourgeois.

Marcel Wanders returns to where it all began: Superstudio Più. It was 2001 when he debuted as an unknown young talent; today he comes back as an established rockstar of international design to celebrate 25 years of Moooi. He does it in grand style, with a mega silver celebration: a spectacular installation of over 1,000 square meters that transforms the space into a symbolic narrative, a sort of manifesto of his imagination. It gathers, celebrates, and relaunches iconic objects and products, reinterpreted—starting with the modular Peak Sofa, Moooi’s bestseller. There is no nostalgia—there is, once again, the same drive and ambition of Marcel to surprise, move, intrigue, and above all provoke.

Special Guest of Superstudio Design 2026, Marcel Wanders, charismatic protagonist of contemporary design and absolute star of Dutch design, debuted at Superstudio Più 25 years ago. Today, right here, we host him in a major retrospective exhibition dedicated to him and his work for Moooi. Here is how he answers three questions by Gisella Borioli.

How has design changed in the last 25 years?
Design has changed profoundly over the past 25 years, but the most significant shift is not aesthetic, but philosophical. In the early 2000s, design was still centered on the object: form, material, authorship, the pursuit of perfection. Today we are experiencing what I would call a contemporary revival of humanism.
