THE POINT ON THE CREATIVE MILAN
Interview with Councilor Cristina Tajani.
If Milan has become the most attractive city in Europe in such short time, it is also thanks to who governs it with new spirit. Among these, the council member for Fashion, Design and Productive Activities Cristina Tajani, a young competent and passionate woman that revitalised the city.A Miracle happened: Milano pre-Expo was experienced as a static city, even a bit boring. Today, it is considered Europe’s most exciting capital and touristic and creative destination where everybody wants to come. How did this happen in such short time? I think aiming on an open schedule of quality events for different public, built in synergy with private citizens has been the winning decision: it has pushed the image of Milan towards a city open to the world, rich in culture, art, sociality.
The week-events are becoming a distinctive mark in Milan. Which are the ones now and the ones scheduled? After Milan Women Fashion of September, at this point very soon, the Fall Design Week will take place: an important moment of reflection on the main themes of the forthcoming Fuorisalone. It starts again 2019 with Fashion, in January and February. We therefore continue in April with the Design Week and we arrive in May, with the third edition of Food City. 2019 will be the year of Leonardo and every event will recall the theme of the brilliant Vinciano. Among the themes we will propose circularity, as key for a new sustainable economy.
Fashion, design, craftsmanship, technology, food, cinema, music ect. Open successfully to the city: is the secret within the quality of the choices? Before the quality of the choices, there is the network. Building synergies with consistency and inclusive ability has always been one of our commitments at the centre of our agenda; a way that allowed us to work with operators both in quality of the proposals as well as on the sustainability of the city.
Public and private citizen move in harmony. To arrive where? Milan is the most integrated Italian city in the international context, economy leader of the Country. I think two aims combine: strengthen the global net with other large economy capitals, to keep up with the biggest ones; reconnect strong connections with other Italian cities that try to combine innovation and inclusion. As I am convinced that Milan, alone, is not enough. Inequality, today is what mostly put in danger the obtained results. It is exactly on this line, that synergy between privates is a central element, to make resources and opportunities available, otherwise unreachable.
