A collaboration between the Accademia di Brera, Superstudio and the FlavioLucchiniArt association allows young artists – both undergraduates or post-grads– to exhibit their artworks. Osservatorio X is the title of the exhibition that brings paintings, drawings, installations, performances – representing the latest trends – to the spaces of via Tortona 27. Open from 18.11 to 18.12.

X is the number of the edition of the project brought together in the two years 2007/2008, this currently involves 44 alumni and students enrolled in the painting school of Accademia di Brera, a symbolic institute in Milan. Yet, that's not all. Student participation was on all fronts – from photographs to the set-up, by a team of very young curators, and communication – and aims to involve participants in the total organization of an art exhibition. An observatory organized to tell a decade of changes in the Academy, but also the concept of expanded painting that has always characterized Brera's classrooms. The exhibition starts from a focus on painting and also involves other techniques and media – sculpture, photography, drawing, video – in a plot that ends with two opening performances that turn artistic attention to the body in art in relationship with the body-statues by Flavio Lucchini. In the spaces of the exhibition, artworks gaze at each other: sometimes they are the outcome of artistic common practices, and affinities between two or more artists. The choice of setting up some works inside the basement where there are old air-raid shelters is interesting: those who access it walk almost on tiptoe, being aware of entering a hidden place, in which an intense relationship with the artwork takes shape. Basement is not a contained space but is full of memory: a precious opportunity to visit and discover this usually inaccessible place.
