OPEN DAY BETWEEN FASHION AND ART

A dozen contemporary art institutions - museums, galleries, photographic archives, artist's dwellings, house-museums, and business museums - will open their doors during the seventeenth Giornata del Contemporaneo on December 11th. The aim of this event is to promote the heritage of private collections in our country, which are unfortunately too often hidden from the public eye. The Giornata del Contemporaneo is promoted by AMACI – Associazione dei Musei d'arte contemporanea italiani – with the support of General Direction for Contemporary Creativity of the Ministry of Culture. This is a rare opportunity to visit places that are otherwise inaccessible. The FlavioLucchiniArtMuseum is one of them...

The FlavioLucchiniArtMuseum is one of them.

In the weeks before the official opening of the FlavioLucchini Art Museum – which is now open to the public upon request – we decided to join the Giornata del Contemporaneo. This way, everyone in the neighborhood and across the city can visit the Museum’s spaces, corresponding to the artist studio, his think-tank, and artistic furnace. Last year, we transformed this place into a personal museum where more than 300 pieces created by Lucchini are displayed. Although Lucchini assumed many roles in his life as art director, publisher, entrepreneur, he has always stayed true to his inner voice as an artist.
Located between Armani/Silos and the Museum of Culture, the new FlavioLucchiniArtMuseum illustrates through the folds and the fabrics of dresses Lucchini's personal reading lens of society and culture from the 1960s up to today. The concept fits perfectly with the spirit of the Giornata del Contemporaneo, which in the words of Giuseppe Pastorelli, director of the Maeci and its promoter, "wants to ensure that, as the innovation of that time is the tradition of today, so the innovation of today is the tradition of tomorrow".
During the Giornata del Contemporaneo a new format of public museum around Italy, based on the model of Fotografiska, will take shape. Since 2010, Fotografiska has brought around the world the idea of a public museum that is always in motion. On www.amaci.org visitors will find a map with all the realities who have joined the event, also abroad. This year's themes will be "performance" and the relationship between the mise en scène and installations. The performance includes both the body of the actor as well as the body of the work, which in the post-digital era requires the creation of novel dynamics of interaction with the public in a hybrid space. Therefore, while many spaces will be physically opened, also some art institutions will present their space in a virtual format.
