Milan Design Week 2022 aims to restore the city's role as the European Capital of Design. The event will raise the profile of Milanese genius loci and include international creative movements, former emerging countries and current global leaders. Superstudio has followed this path since it began its activity and this year has seen its location grow. Two Milanese places will host the Superdesign Show 2022: the "classic" Superstudio Più in Via Tortona 27 and the brand-new Superstudio Maxi in via Moncucco 35. For the Superdesign Show 2022, two distinctly different and synergistic projects have been conceived: LOOKING AHEAD at Superstudio Più and DNA.DESIGNNATUREARCHITECTURE at Superstudio Maxi...
Superstudio Più: where trends were born...
The street-artist TvBoy (alias Salvatore Benintende) presents an exhibition at Mudec that traces his artistic journey from the streets to the museums with icons of media personalities and even former enemies who ended up as friends. As Mudec and many publications did, we are pleased to present his exhibition. Despite the enthusiasm, we owe it to our readers to make it clear that this is not his first show: his "first time" in an art-space was in 2010 at the Art Point at Superstudio Più with Mash Up. After 11 years, it was good to see him again in via Tortona...
As a result of launching the My Own Gallery concept gallery at the entrance of Superstudio Più, the ArtBox display case in Via Tortona, and the ArtPoint event hall for the first time, Superstudio Più opened its doors in 2006 to semi-unknown artists, original artistic languages, and creative fusions of all kinds, while offering free...
A prize, an exhibition, a project. Flavio Lucchini's work spans from Milan, and Dubai to Tokyo, showing an extraordinary life path, that does not cease to amaze...
This is a fecund period for Flavio Lucchini as a creative and artist, recalling a particular moment of the beginnings of his career when, in 1967, he was art-director of the newborn Italian Condé Nast, and together with the already famous graphic designer Giancarlo Iliprandi and other young advertisers, they founded the first autarchic version of the Art Directors Club, a yearbook of art directors and of their most significant works, which in 1985 gave life to the current, official, recognized organization Art Directors Club Italia. This year, Lucchini received the most desirable award from ADCI, the Hall of Fame Lifetime Achievement Award, which was attributed to a man who was the master of generations of graphic designers, journalists, photographers, creative talents, being at the same time...
The Triennale di Milano opens in rapid succession two exhibitions that pay tribute to two great and eclectic protagonists of Milanese and international culture: Giovanni Gastel and Ettore Sottsass, indeed, stands out for their extraordinary creativity and vision through which they were able to range in the most disparate fields, from writing to photography, architecture, graphics, philosophy, often merging languages. "Two great characters who have accompanied us with their genius for a long part of our lives" recall their friends Lucchini and Borioli...
The first event (1 December 2021 – 13 March 2022) is a tribute to the recently perished photographer Giovanni Gastel (Milan, 1955 –2021) through two exhibitions: The people I like, in collaboration with the MAXXI National Museum of XXI Century Arts, Rome, and The Jewels of Fantasy, in collaboration with the Museum of Contemporary Photography. The people I like, curated by Uberto Frigerio with a production by...

While we were all preparing for a "lighter" autumn after many difficult months, ready to leave our holes and return to offices, shops, clubs, events – encouraged by decreasing infections index and hospitals getting closer to standard levels – the untrustworthy Covid white and red mass – seemingly looking like a harmless cartoon drawing, yet being an invisible enemy causing harmful consequences all around the world – kept creating panic and destruction. Suddenly, the health situation started to scare us again, also due to the many blah, blah, blah of unqualified television personalities, crowds of No Vax No Mask No Pass No Everything, while at least vaccinations...
On November 29th, the eighteenth edition of the Festival Best Event Awards Italia will take place at Superstudio Maxi with the ADC Group award assigned to the best 2021 live communication projects. Eighteenth edition happens in year 0, that is the one of the rebirth. Looking ahead, BEA promoters thoroughly questioned the future of the event industry. The questions they have asked themselves will be shared with the public in a series of conferences scheduled for December 1st. Among the fundamental themes: since the transition from physical stages to the so-called meta-stages has changed the experience...

In via Tortona 27 a two-day event of the fashion brand Manila Grace took place. On November 25, for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, Manila Grace presented its "Muse", the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, in the spaces of Superstudio Più: the name "Muse" recalls both the daughters of Zeus which were traditionally considered the patrons of the art and a specific Chinese plant variety the fibres of which are employed to produce the brand clothes.
Independence, freedom, self-empowerment are the words chosen to represent Manila Grace's idea of the values that contemporary women...
What happens when a system fails? Or when a single cell sticks to a frame, and art merges with life? How does man invent infinity and go beyond himself? What kind of landscape welcomes all the possibilities? These are some of the questions posed by some of the works on display in the collective Osservatorio X, organized for the first time in collaboration with the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. Through a selection of artists who learnt their skills in the painting classrooms of the Academy, we show off the art which is now exhibited into our basement. It's a shame not to bring it into the light...
Let's start from the beginning. From the life of bacteria and single-celled organisms. We are with Andrea Barbagallo, his production wants to introduce life in the artistic material. In the exhibition we find Osedex series: «Osedax which in Latin means "bone eater" indicates a particular type of bacteria that feeds on the bones of whales: undergoing such a dismemberment the whale does not die, but transforms into...
"Man is a biophilic animal" one could say paraphrasing Aristotle. Also, adding: «who in 2021 lives around a ficus» . The idea of Carlo Ratti – Carlo Ratti Associati based in Turin, New York and London – and Italo Rota – Italo Rota and Partners in Milan – of a house developing around a tree became the project for the private home of Francesco Mutti, CEO of Mutti Italia, which is located in the heart of the so-called Food Valley, just 100 m from the company of its owner...
We are located in Montechiarugolo, a town of 10,000 inhabitants in the Parma area, which for the beauty of its paths and its castle was included in 2020 list of the most beautiful villages in Italy...
I know a lot of things but I cannot speak, I pass from hand to hand, this weekend is totally mine. Who am I? What a riddle! We are referring to the book, of course. The Salone della Cultura kicks off on November 20th at Superstudio Maxi, with the participation of 220 exhibitors, independent bookstores and antique dealers from ten different countries. Variety is the keyword: ancient books along with modern and second-hand ones with the aim of restoring the image of the publishing sector. What follows are the innovations of this edition: six thematic exhibitions and the collaboration with BookCity...
«The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest minds of past centuries» said René Descartes: the conversation changes, the actors alternate, but the idea is always the same, the need to know. The new combination Salone-BookCity expresses the need to know through book lovers and writers...
