THE WORLD OF THE FUTURE UNVEILED AT SUPERNOVA

Posted by: Marta Casuccio

Humanoid robots interacting with the audience, artificial intelligences transformed into domestic objects, immersive installations capable of blending the real and the virtual: during Milan Design Week 2026, Superstudio Più became a gigantic laboratory dedicated to the future. Among interactive environments, phygital experiences, and digital scenographies, SuperNova brought together some of the most visionary projects of the entire Milan Design Week, confirming how technology and design are often inseparable languages.

Starting with Samsung Electronics, which with “Design is an Act of Love” showcased the most human side of technology. Inside the Samsung Design Open Lab, concepts, prototypes, and products narrated an idea of innovation that is increasingly emotional, everyday, and personal, where design becomes the bridge between people and technology.

Not far away, Lexus reinterpreted the very concept of mobility with “SPACE” and “Discover Your Space”: immersive installations of lights, sounds, and sensory environments explored the meaning of movement in all its forms, from the car as a contemplative and relational space to new technologies for vans and catamarans. Pushing even further was FORUM8 with “Experience the Moon. Design the Future”, a journey through digital twins, XR, metaverse, and virtual simulations applied to urban planning and the infrastructures of the future. A technological ecosystem combining VR, AI, and immersive environments to imagine new ways of designing and experiencing space.
Among the technological installations was also “Geometry of Light” by INDIGO DESIGN, where the Japanese studio led by Satoshi Kan transformed light, gravity, and perception into an experience. Between physical elements and virtual reality, the audience crossed continuously changing environments, experiencing design from within.
Artificial intelligence also entered the domestic space thanks to “Domestic Oracles”, the project created by Istituto Marangoni Milano Design in collaboration with Alessi. Here, students imagined objects capable of reacting, communicating, and interacting with people through light, movement, and sensitive behaviors, turning AI into a physical and poetic presence. And then there was the humanoid robot, protagonist of live demonstrations and real-time interactions that showed how “embodied” artificial intelligence can enter the worlds of fashion, design, and creative storytelling. Alongside it, Holobox, the large immersive touchscreen that allowed visitors to digitally explore Flavio Lucchini’s works from every angle, anticipating the visit to the FLA Museum through an interactive and three-dimensional experience. A further dialogue emerged between textiles and digital culture with “The Tactile Atelier” by C&C Milano, an immersive installation where materials, textures, and virtual environments merged into a single sensory experience. A project that brought touch back to the center of the creative process, transforming fabric into an interactive and narrative element personalized by the visitators.
In an edition of Milan Design Week increasingly oriented toward contamination between disciplines, SuperNova thus presented a vision of design capable of overcoming the boundaries between physical and digital, making the experience of innovation tangible, immersive, and increasingly human.
