A selection and brief analysis of photographs taken by some of the great representatives of Italian photography that is part of the video presented on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Superstudio 13. Along with other photographers, they left us the memory of the campaigns they have made here, in the most important and historical center of photographic studios in Milan.
Body can make the clothes talk, animate the space, assume different meanings and express visions that go beyond reality. Only when this happens you can talk about photography as art and really create something unique. We realize this is the task of every photographer if you look carefully at the elegant shoots taken by Alfa Castaldi, Gian Paolo Barbieri, Gianmarco Chieregato, Settimio Benedusi and Sofia Riva, internationally renowed photographers who with their gaze have contributed in giving an original interpretation to the fashion creations of the 80s and the then flourishing Made in Italy.
In the photograph Entomology (1991) taken by Alfa Castaldi for Vogue Italia, for example, the body of the woman becomes that of an enchanting insect that in the emptiness of space opens as if to fly away, subtracted from any weight and elegant.
Gian Paolo Barbieri for the Dolce&Gabbana campaign (1989) with Maria Buccellati, Cristina Cascardo and Marpessa Hennink places the three women in the background that become statues with sinuous, solemn shapes and piercing eyes.
In the case of Miele (1989) by Settimio Benedusi and in the photo taken to Ines Sastre (2000) by Gianmarco Chieregato, the subjects give life to a space that would otherwise be empty and lacking in meaning.
In the Soprani press campaign (1983-85) made by Sofia Riva the interweaving of the female and the male body convey a sense of evanescence and spontaneity, movement and freshness at the same time. This selection of photographs reminds us that the genius of a photographer consists not so much in shooting, but in creating a new and unique vision, in telling a a story that in one photo makes us dream, whether it is fashion photography, still life, portrait, reportages and the other innumerable ramifications of this art in constant evolution. These are the shots that, together with many others, were able to create beauty, seduction and redeem together with fashion our daily from the aesthetics of the bad, making us approach the expression of beauty.
