It’s running strong the most stunning exhibition of the moment has a presentation facing the street thanks to hundreds of technicolor balloons which seem to want to submerge the iconic PopDolls sculptures by Flavio Lucchini, in a perfect match of colours. All that takes place in the Art Box, a real "showcase" of Superstudio Più, in Via Tortona 27 in Milan, the open minded cultural hub always open in its multi-tasking spaces to events of different spirit and inspiration. The Art Box set-up is the welcome and presentation ticket for the "Pop Air" exhibition, organized by the "Balloon Museum" and dedicated to "inflatable art", which had an enormously successful première in Paris and a first Italian debut , equally striking, in Rome, and which now arrives in Milan, right in the 7,000 sqm exhibition space of Superstudio in the heart of the Tortona District, from 23 December 2022 to 12 February 2023. Entirely instagrammable, this is the most "social" exhibition at the turn of the year.
The absolute protagonists of the exhibition, which constitutes a real immersion in the imagination, in complete freedom of "interaction": the air element and its containment within unusual shapes and materials, yet perfect in their "roundness", by numerous artists who have given life to eighteen “oversized sculptures! which are nothing if not the assembly and modeling of balloons, unthinkable without the use of unusual materials, in an itinerary which develops between different types of works: large installations, obviously inflatable "sculptures", creations with different shapes and dimensions, all characterized by a significant playful appeal, which aims to astonish, but above all to involve visitors. Who maybe are the real “actors” of the performance…Interaction, undoubtedly the leitmotif of the exhibition, together with the air, the absolute keyword. The visitor is the protagonist who becomes the director of his own presence: thanks to innovative technological devices and specially conceived apps, he himself can intervene on the conformation of the works, also on the exhibition itinerary as a whole and consequently on the effect that the works themselves exert on other guests. The most exciting experience? “Hypercosmo”, a swimming pool of over 600 square meters in which one can literally dive among a million and more balls; but also “Silenus”, a sort of sleeping giant completed by… boat sails. And again: "Airship Orchestra", an assembly of zoomorphic figures, ironic and funny in appearance, however capable of lighting up and playing like a real band.
At the end of the visit? The discovery of another museum, a permanent one. The FLA, FlavioLucchiniArt Museum, where you can find the Dolls flanked by paintings and sculptures which evoque beauty, fashion, contemporary social changes in a mysterious and fascinating underground display
