A beautiful and visionary initiative desired by Councillor Alessia Cappello of the Municipality of Milan to open up possible future prospects for many girls. With the collaboration of established professionals who generously make their time and experience available in order to identify their talents and direct them in the right way toward the path best suited to their aptitudes. Among the 250 women called to mentor the 500 mentees is Gisella Borioli, who is happy to once again be ready to fly young women toward self-affirmation.
From January I will officially be a Mentor of the "Mentorship Milano" Project, conceived and promoted by Councillor Alessia Cappello of the City of Milan as an initiative of the new Pact for Work. This is the first public and totally free women-to-women Mentoring project between women who have reached an apex professional position and girls between the ages of 16 and 30 in the city, with the aim of creating a women's network that can allow younger women to feel supported and oriented in one of the most delicate phases of their lives, the one related to choosing who to become.
This is the first time that a public administration has promoted such a project, open to girls in the city regardless of their experience and background, to help concretely reduce the gender gap within the world of work and promote women's empowerment, as envisioned by the United Nations 2030 Agenda.
Together with 250 other women from the worlds of Entrepreneurship, Fashion, Design, Finance, Publishing and Culture in the city, for 6 months I will therefore have the pleasure of listening and answering questions, recounting the crucial moments of my experience and career, and above all allowing myself to be questioned with respect to the new needs and challenges of girls in this historical era.
I will meet the mentees who will be assigned to me at Superstudio Più in via Tortona, in a beautiful atelier where among pieces of art that speak to us about fashion, design, social change, and visual communication we will be able to discover together the very wide world of applied creativity and whether this could be the right area for each of them.
It will be a beautiful, unprecedented experience that will set a school - I hope - in other Italian cities as well.
