ILIAD. THE SECOND REVOLUTION IS NOT FOR EVERYONE

Three years after the first event, Benedetto Levi, CEO of Iliad Italia, returns to Superstudio to present Iliad Box, the latest fiber with the green badge. Those were successful years for the French company, which has collected 8.5 billion users across Italy (1 in 7 Italians). Let's just say, the first time was a lucky one...

Iliad box is a white, circular, elegant, minimal device with a screen showing a QR code to quickly connect to the network (no more long passwords!) and five entrances sharing a total of 5 Gbit/s. It costs 15.99 euros for Iliad users, 23.99 euros for everyone else. 39.99 euros for installation. No additional charges or price increases. "Forever" is the iconic slogan of the company founded by Xavier Niel, which plans to turn over 9 trillion...

"Forever" is the iconic slogan of the company founded by Xavier Niel, which plans to turn over 9 trillion this year.
This is a revolution in prices and services, in communication and supply, due to the uncontrolled multiplication of unscrupulous practices by many telephone giants (such as false advertising of optic fiber), sanctioned by antitrust with billions each year. Under transparency, the second Iliad revolution gained momentum after 30.000 km of fiber was laid with the Iliad box awaiting 7.4 billion Italian households. Is that all? Most cities on the map of the iliad website are missing, where the FTTH EPON technology is not operational and the speed is not maximized. You're lucky if you live in Milan, Bologna or Turin: you'll get it immediately, with a download speed up to 5GB and an upload speed of 700MB. If you live in Rome, Naples or Florence, even in the historical centre, you have to wait. Not to mention the minor cities dotted throughout Italy.
There is no democratic fiber (yet). Levi says they're working on it and predict that the turning point will be the EU funds Italy received to cover the grey areas and fill in the digital delay.
