ADD Award is a "monster" project that, for eight years, has been inspiring architects, designers, engineers, and companies involved in the design of furniture, indoor and outdoor spaces, public and private, domestic or hospitality, urban or green. It also encompasses residential complexes, hotels, and restaurants, urban landscapes, and country houses. In addition to structural elements, dividers, furniture, accessories, kitchens...
Around 3,000 projects speak to us about contemporary Russian creativity, which draws from tradition with an open and international perspective.
Managing such a broad proposal of projects that required expertise and attention to judge their value in their diversity, from small 30-square-meter spaces to powerful and ambitious architectures, was challenging. The perfect organization that divided the many design categories among numerous jurors (mostly Russian and Italian architects, journalists, professors, artists) allowed for a conscious and motivated selection and highlighted trends that will influence the landscape, not only in Russia.
I had the task of navigating through hotels, restaurants, and cafes, with over 200 projects to carefully examine, in a bewildering diversity of styles. I focused on aesthetics, comfort, elegance, and the pleasantness of each environment, aiming to make me wish to be a part of it, even for a short while.
An effective mix of minimalism with original decorative elements that introduce art in the form of paintings, sculptures, photography, graphics, craftsmanship, and impactful art installations seems to be a constant in the environments I appreciated the most. Although the entire emerging panorama had interesting aspects.
My wish is that the desire for creativity and beauty will forever silence the noise of weapons and the devastation that follows. Hopefully, soon.
