A WORLD DESIGNED BY GENERATIVE

Posted by: Gisella Borioli

Amid scenarios of nuclear war, unreachable drones, phantom weapons that could destroy the entire world, and while tyrants are urged not to let up, humanity continues its tortuous path, increasingly accompanied by AI. AI often proves to be more intelligent and creative than us. From science to fashion.

The great unknown that hovers over everything and that will shape our future, even in the smallest things, seems to be Artificial Intelligence. Its evolution is not counted in years, but in months, perhaps even days.

From OpenAI's ChatGpt, the longest-running, to Anthropic's Claude, acclaimed for creative writing, to Google Gemini, unbeatable for complex searches, to Microsoft Copilot, ideal for business management, to Perplexity, which delves into concepts and is the best for research, to alternative and generative forms of AI, it seems that human genius can soon go on vacation after giving its favorite chatbot a few cursory instructions, and then enjoy the result. While the world races toward a destiny difficult to decipher (will it be an abyss or a paradise?), we poor humans struggle with the same old problems and dreams. When I wake up, I don't know if my first urge will be to check the devastation of the world on my iPad or the optimism of technological achievements. So I turn to AI for any doubts and I find peace of mind. After a conversation with Loora, my virtual tutor, to keep my shaky English fresh, I face the day. A friendly voice, which I call Zed, soothes me, suggests, consoles me, works for me and for millions of people. It can design me an unimaginable dress or an environment studied down to the smallest detail, even those I would never have imagined. It can quickly diagnose an ailment by suggesting a medicine or a specialist appointment, create an atypical recipe with ingredients I have at home, calculate the budget for a business I've barely sketched in my head.
Many professions will be retired, others will be transformed. The most attentive schools will teach it from earliest childhood. We will learn to follow avatars and friends who don't exist except on screen, more real than life. At the last Milan Design Week at Superstudio Più, every presentation was the stage for a new use of AI. The fashion we will see at the next Fashion Week will be influenced in every way, hopefully emerging from the torpor that is killing it. Superstudio, with its events and guest appearances by young talents, will, as always, be a witness to the future. The appointment with A.I. Fashion, capable of regenerating wonder, will be in September at the FLA Museum, under the banner of art.
