A VISIONARY EYEWEAR SHOW
The Circus Eyewear Show, the most original event entirely dedicated to the eyewear design, arrives at the Superstudio Più with over 60 exhibitors. Inspired by the circus and the legendary personality of the filmmaker Federico Fellini, who has loved it his whole life.
The Circus Eyewear Show was born in June 2021 from an intense drive for innovation. It is a playful, irreverent event, which draws inspiration from the circus as an itinerant and enigmatic place to meet odd and bizarre freaks. The circus is a bit like an imaginary world that proliferates under the tents on the outskirts of our modern cities. In Milan, it stops at the most fashionable square in town, the Superstudio complex (13-14 February), in an area that used to be dense with factories, before continuing to new destinations: first, Padua (20-21 February), then Rome (26-27 February), Matera (6-7 March), and lastly Catania (27-28 March). For two days, Superstudio becomes a marvellous agora with more than 60 exhibitors gathering under the magic tents where everything is possible. Flamboyance and infinite possibilities are what bind eyeglasses together: the chosen models transform and disguise the faces of those wearing them under the masks that far from concealing them, reveal their true identity. On view the ironic brand Theo Eyewear and the oldest eyewear manufacturer in Japan, Masunaga, which evokes the elegance and delicacy of Japanese culture. Also, Kuboraum, an avant-garde brand based in Berlin, that creates geometric eyeglass frames with rigid shapes, sharp angles and many volumes juxtaposed. Then, Oscar Mamooi, who has turned the human types he observed in the nights at the Plastic (the famous nightclub in Milan) into a bold and shocking design. Finally, there is Lapima, a brand whose eyeglasses feature the warm colours of the founder's native land, Brazil. Despite all these different inspirations, the essence of the circus as an extravagant place links them all together.
