5 YOUNG DESIGNERS FOR CHANGE

Posted by: Francesca Ulano

By now we all know the fashion industry is not sailing in easy waters right now. Discombobulations at the top, losses, audiences demanding more and more. The time has come to turn things around. Istituto Marangoni and WHITE are teaming up to give five promising and talented creatives a chance to get noticed and, why not, bring a new vision.

Emanuele Abbondanza and Marco Grosso started Ascend Beyond in 2021 to dress young men who don't want to give up personality, comfort and a dash of color. Marco Vinci, on the other hand, focuses on women who are looking for elegant and classy, but not boring, scratchy and flashy clothes, without, however, lapsing into vulgarity. Pronounce has already drawn attention to itself in 2019 when young founders Yushan Li and Jun Zhou were invited to Pitti Uomo. It was the first time for Chinese designers. Sandra Mansour, the name of the brand but also its creative mind, is the combination of passion for art and fashion. The garments are delicate and designed to adorn – this is the designer's word of choice – the female body. And finally, Unhidden by Victoria Jenkins, an extremely interesting brand that is concretely committed to inclusive design for people with disabilities. One senses that Jenkins’ is a personal struggle.

If fashion needs change, it first needs someone who can graft it on. Perhaps these very proposals are a spark. It's too early to tell, but in the meantime, we'll mark the names and start observing.
