Those who remember how via Tortona once looked, from the point where it crossed with via Bergognone where today's Piazza delle Culture is, until its outer ring road, understand how much it has changed since then. With its two hubs, Superstudio 13 in via Forcella (opened in 1983) and Superstudio Più in via Tortona (opened in 2000) Superstudio has brought back to the area design, fashion, art, and communication, which have gradually occupied old laboratories and factories in decay, such as the big Post Office Building (now Deloitte) and the former Ansaldo (now Base). The very multifunctional cultural center at the Base began its transformation through the intervention of Gisella Borioli, who was a member of the Strategic Council at the time. This was created by Letizia Moratti, who suggested and led the passage to its new function as a street for creativity...

After Mondrian, Chagall arrives at the Mudec, just a stone's throw away from Superstudio Più. "A tale of two worlds" exhibits more than 100 pieces of art curated by the Israel Museum of Jerusalem. On view is another Chagall: not the artist of the series “the lovers”, but the illustrator of Vitebsk and of private family memories, blending love and Judaism, is brought to light. Meanwhile, you can discover another legend on display: Henri-Cartier Bresson...

Undoubtedly a magnificent and not-to-be-missed exhibition. The Mudec discloses a private Chagall this time, the one that depicts his native village, Vitebsk (currently in Belarus), with winged charriots flying through the city's avenues in the background, and baggy skirted women walking with their umbrellas and hats down the roads. He shows us his house, a crooked hut, so miserable and crumbling that it looks as if it is going to collapse on itself along with the jewellry shop...

Trucks account for less than 4% of traffic in London, but they are involved in 70% of fatal car accidents. Carl-Magnus Norden, with no background in automotive, had a vision of a truck whose strength was security in urban centers, one which could provide a 220 degree panoramic view with lateral cameras. Interestingly, Volta Zero is a private truck with a green twist: no blind spots due to the removal of the cumbersome diesel engine, which is why traditional trucks reach heights of no less than 2 meters, but Volta Zero uses batteries located below the work environment, allowing the driver to access at ground level...

Superstudio plays a key role in the humanitarian crisis caused by the outbreak of the Ukrainian war. It all began with the idea of Tommaso Borioli, CEO of Superstudio, to welcome 30 war refugees to the brand-new space in the Bovisa district of Milan.

Superstudio collected and donated 12,000 masks to citizens as early as April 2020, meeting the immediate needs of those who could not get them halfway. The group has once again organized a solidarity race, which has resulted in the regeneration of an industrial space in Bovisa, in via Negrotto, where 30 women and children will be hosted for their first 6 months in Italy. In need and deprived of everything, moms, grandmas, and teenagers will try to reimagine home as a private and intimate place, designed specifically for them, rather than as a place that makes them feel like passengers...

The editorial I wrote for AT two years ago, on 23 March 2020, in the grip of the pandemic and concerned with other dark omens, revealed all the worries raised by the beginning of the new millennium. Today, I shiver when reading it: the dangers outlined in that same article are still present and without remedy. Although we made a lot of progress with anti-COVID vaccination, the skepticism of many contributed to keeping the virus alive. Moreover, against the global backdrop, imbued with concern on many levels, the economy has taken on a central role in our lives. There is still a long way to go before recovery, adversely affecting our work, growth, activities, reconstruction, and social life...
