TOMMASO BORIOLI: TEN YEARS OF MILESTONES

Posted by: Camilla Golzi Saporiti

Looking back over the past decade, what has been your biggest milestone?
It's difficult to single out just one. What brought us to where we are today was really a succession of milestones that gradually shaped the Group. If I had to choose the defining moment, though, it would be the opening of Superstudio Maxi. It was our first new venue in more than thirty years, following the launch of Superstudio 13, and twenty years after Superstudio Più. Having a second major event venue gave us a decisive boost. We opened immediately after the pandemic, which had pushed us to the brink of bankruptcy. That moment marked the beginning of a strong recovery and a new phase of growth. More than any financial figure, I remember it as a genuine rebirth.

And what milestone are you still aiming for?
We have just inaugurated Superstudio Village in Milan's Bovisa district, bringing the Group's creative venues in the city to four. Our next goal is to open a Superstudio Events venue abroad. It's something I've dreamed about since I was a child, and achieving it would represent a major personal and professional milestone.

How has Superstudio Events changed over the past ten years?
Many things have changed, but I believe the most significant transformation has taken place within the company itself. Today, we work with three different artificial intelligence platforms across all our teams. They've dramatically increased productivity at a relatively modest cost, allowing the same number of people to accomplish far more than before. To me, this is the most important innovation of the past decade. It's also reshaping market demand. In our photographic studios, for example, traditional shoots are increasingly giving way to content created through generative AI. That shift is prompting us to rethink and broaden the services and experiences our venues can offer.

What do you expect to change over the next two years?
Our strategic plan will continue on two fronts: vertically, by expanding further along the supply chain, and horizontally, by opening new venues in additional countries. At the same time, we're investing in increasingly efficient management systems and more innovative operating models that enable us to perform at a higher level. I don't know whether it will happen within the next two years, but I'd like us to surpass €100 million in annual revenue. It's just a number, of course, but it also represents the feeling of having reached an important milestone.
