Tina Rugelj is a woman that speaks the language of her birthplace. Her last collection, Tales of the Adriatic, perfectly fits the coordinates of her Croatia.
The distorted and twisted olive wood, natural white stone from the island of Brač, recycled fishing nets hand-weaved by local artisans, the mobula mobular, a kind of sea ray almost extinct, all of this came together as an inspiration to create Tina Rugelj’s pieces of furniture. The fisherman’s lamp, the Sea and Stone table, the Adrian chaise longue, and finally the Plankton rug celebrates the beauty of Adriatic while warning us about its uncertainity: they emphasize the values of Mediterranean cultures, preserving local production and materials, and at the same time, shedding light on the practices of overfishing and maritime pollution, guilty for the loss of biodiversity.
