THE GREAT BEAUTY OF NATURE

Three projects, three visions and three concepts, but one common point: wheter it’s marble or lava stone, what is showcased is the peculiarity of an extremely versatile material, regardless the “though” appareance. Being made of stone can take many meanings, and three important names of Made in Italy demonstrate this.

BAGNARA. THE DARKNESS AND LIGHT OF LIFE
The Leopardian idea of “pleasure as the child of pain”—the notion that without suffering there can be no true joy, and without loneliness one cannot appreciate connection—guides the immersive journey of Nikolaus Bagnara, titled Hope, composed of three rooms. In the first, the Room of Shadow, visitors are enveloped in darkness and chaos. Surfaces are rough, forms jagged, and fragments of debris are scattered around. After a few steps, a glimmer of light appears, leading into the Room of Hope—a bright and harmonious space, where materials are light-toned and surfaces are smooth. It is a place for reflection, dialogue, and mutual understanding. The journey concludes in the Corridor of Bloom, an explosion of color and life. A stone pathway—seemingly endless and entirely covered in flowers—guides visitors toward the exit. www.bagnara.net

FOODDESIGNSTORIES / LAPILLI. HAPPINESS YOU CAN TOUCH
What is happiness? Or rather, what does it mean to each of us?
This is the question posed by FoodDesignStories, in harmony with the theme of the Superdesign Show. Their answer is the Yellow Room, a Platonic symposium where ideas, dreams, and objects coexist and interact. The space—designed by architect Sandra Faggiano, the project’s visionary art director—is more of a journey than a room, structured into three macro-areas. First is the Construction Site of Happiness, followed by a surreal Garden, and finally the Material Library, where happiness becomes tangible—something you can literally touch. This last area features the work of Lapilli, a brand that merges artisanal vision and technology by playing with lava stone finishes. It blends design and art, furniture and fashion, always with an eye toward a sustainable future. www.lapillilavastone.com

ACMÉ. FACETS OF MARBLE
The mission of Acmé and creative studio Studio Forward is to bring expressive design into everyday living. To do this, they’ve chosen marble—the most natural of materials, rich in texture and tonal variation. Supporting Acmé in production is CISAM Marmi, a historic Sicilian company renowned for highlighting marble’s authentic beauty. Three collections are featured: Mischi,a mix of various marble types that form mosaic-like compositions where color takes center stage—from the geometric Ettore bookshelf, to the Ego washbasin, and the Dalì shelves, which echo the artist’s famous mustache. Macerie, inspired by sustainability, transforms marble scraps into artistic pieces like the Punto wine bucket or the Pausa bench. Arabesque, a luxurious reinterpretation of richly ornamented Arab and Mediterranean architecture, expressed in elegant décor and tableware. www.acmedesign.it
