The closing of MIA Photo Fair 2026 has revealed the winner of the Superstudio Photo Award, dedicated to the memory of Oliviero Toscani. Emerging from the ranks of the best European schools, Giulia Sidoli, a student at Atelier Smedsby in Paris, stood out and has now been awarded the significant technical and professional recognition offered by the initiative's partners.

The success of MIA Photo Fair 2026 is measured not only by its 10,000 total visitors or the presence of 111 exhibitors, but also by its ability to bet on the future. It is in this context that the Superstudio Photo Award—aimed at students under 28 and dedicated this year to the memory of Oliviero Toscani—commits to identifying and supporting new contemporary visual languages.

On the theme of "Metamorphosis," interpreted through a direct approach with "Diversely ME," the winner is the Italian Giulia Sidoli, a student at the Atelier Smedsby school in Paris.
The award ceremony took place on Sunday, March 29, at the FLA Museum Atelier at Superstudio Più, introduced by a video tribute to Oliviero Toscani. During the event, Giulia Sidoli presented her project: “Working on my tan: the ultimate tanning guide.” The work analyzes the rituals associated with the search for the "perfect tan" through a deliberately emphasized aesthetic. In an era dominated by appearances, the author uses satire to show how our identity and gestures transform under the pressure of social standards. Her images amplify daily sun-related habits to expose their absurdity, raising profound questions about the collective obsession with tanned skin.
As a result of this recognition, Giulia Sidoli wins a professional shooting curated by the Superstudio Set and E-Phototeams at the renowned Superstudio 13 studios. During the session, Fujifilm Italia will provide a mirrorless camera from the GFX system with GF lenses.
The Superstudio Photo Award thus confirms its role as concrete support for the new generation of artists, offering technical tools and visibility to explore the power of the image in contemporary photography.
