Negligence on every level, lack of staff, inadequate inspections of structures, materials and furnishings, missing emergency exits, overcrowding: these words echo relentlessly, spreading fear and outrage across institutions, social media, judicial investigations and the anguished voices of parents.
Many - far too many - venues in the nightlife scene fail to meet basic safety standards. But not all of them. Super Club, the private club inside Superstudio Più, is a notable exception. Rated «with top marks» for safety by Le Iene in the January 11 episode, the vast event, clubbing and concert space on Via Tortona 27 in Milan stands out as a rare example of a venue that is flawless in every respect. A true white fly in a sector that in Italy counts around a thousand nightclubs, plus an almost endless stream of night bars, karaoke lounges, piano bars, dance halls and party venues, Super Club distinguishes itself by complying meticulously - and innovatively - with every safety regulation. Proof that substance matters more than image.
A flagship project by Expect Nothing, the lighting and show design studio behind its conception, and a jewel of Milan’s nightlife, the venue spans 380 square metres and features not one but three clearly marked emergency exits, along with visible stairways and steps, as highlighted by Le Iene. It is also equipped not only with individual fire hydrants, but with a fully integrated water network connected to a pressurised fire-fighting piping system. The spaces, from the entrance staircase to the private areas, are expansive and modular, adaptable to different types of events and audience sizes, and supervised at all times by trained staff. Designed according to the highest technological, sustainability and safety standards, the club’s lighting system is a striking example. Every area is illuminated dynamically and can be customised through a low-consumption RGBW LED system with pixel mapping and advanced control via MADRIX 5 software, creating immersive and theatrical atmospheres while ensuring optimal visibility at all times.
