On the occasion of MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas, MyOwnGallery presents “Winter Light”, the new exhibition by Riccardo Fregoso, an Italian-French photographer and creative director who, alongside his successful career in commercial photography, has long pursued a personal artistic research in which light plays the leading role.
Winter light quietly enters rooms, brushes against objects, crosses faces and transforms everyday scenes into vision. With “Winter Light”, Riccardo Fregoso presents a new photographic series in which ephemeral, sharp winter light reveals fragments of a private, intimate world, suspending time in almost metaphysical atmospheres.
After the success of “Adriatico”, his debut project (named by Artribune as the best photography book of 2022), Fregoso continues a visual exploration in which reality opens up to a more enigmatic and poetic dimension.
The images do not tell the story of a return home, but something more subtle: the moment when light transforms the ordinary into a space of reflection. Through essential compositions and refined sensitivity, the artist creates a form of magical realism made of thresholds, hints and fleeting presences: light filtering through curtains and windows, the fragment of a face, a suspended gesture, a place just beginning to reveal itself.
Curated by Martina Alessia Parri, the exhibition brings together 17 photographs created between 2018 and today. It is part of the OFF Circuit of MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas, the citywide program accompanying Italy’s most important photography fair, held at Superstudio Più from March 18 to 22.
