With 77 galleries – 56 Italian and 21 international – and a total of 114 exhibitors, MIA Photo Fair BNP Paribas reaffirms its role as a key reference point in the contemporary art scene. However, this fair is much more than an art market; it is a temporary museum of photography, an immersive experience that combines the highest quality of exhibited works with a well-structured cultural program featuring thematic exhibitions, workshops, talks, special projects, awards, and portfolio reviews.
The 2025 edition marks a significant turning point: BNP Paribas, a long-time supporter of the event, becomes its title sponsor, further strengthening the connection between the world of finance and culture. This partnership highlights the fair’s growing international reach, increasingly establishing itself as a crossroads for artistic visions from around the world.
This year’s theme is “Dialogues,” an exploration of the connections between cultures, eras, and visual languages, which runs through every section of the fair, from the Main Section of galleries to special curatorial projects. “Beyond Photography – Dialogue,” curated by Domenico de Chirico, shines a spotlight on galleries experimenting with new visual forms, emphasizing the value of cultural and artistic exchange. “Reportage Beyond Reportage,” curated by Emanuela Mazzonis di Pralafera, takes visitors on a visual journey through time and generations, intertwining memory and identity, humanity and nature. Following past editions focused on the Mediterranean and Iran, this year’s “FOCUS” section is dedicated to Switzerland, curated by Rischa Paterlini.
A rich program of workshops and talks further enhances the fair experience. Among the most anticipated new features is the editorial photography workshop curated by Nicolas Ballario, created in collaboration with Esquire Italia and the Cucù studio. Many other special projects enrich the exhibition path, including Dream Role by filmmaker Peter Chelsom at MyOwnGallery, the Deloitte Photo Grant under the artistic direction of Denis Curti and the BlackCamera team, and OFF-THE-WALL, curated by Erik Kessels, featuring photography that goes beyond traditional wall-mounted presentation.
