MIA PHOTO FAIR 2021 AT SUPERSTUDIO MAXI

It was born right here, at Superstudio Più in via Tortona, ten years ago and it has immediately been regarded as the most important fair dedicated to photography and moving image. The coronavirus cancelled the celebration of the tenth anniversary, but MIA will be back in March more important and beautiful than ever in the new astonishing spaces of Superstudio Maxi, in via Moncucco.

“It is a sort of homecoming - states Fabio Castelli, patron of the fair together with his daughter Lorenza- “The first editions of MIA Photo Fair took place at Superstudio Più in the Tortona area, the well-known Design District of Milan. Since then, our relationships with the Superstudio Group have remained excellent. We started to deal with the Borioli family, owners of Superstudio, a few months ago, before the start of the renovation of SUPERSTUDIO MAXI, evaluating together which could be the possible synergies between MIA Photo Fair and Superstudio Events, entity which manages all the events of Superstudio Group. Furthermore, pushing towards wider scenarios, we feel that this new site has great potential and we think, with good hope, that the Famagosta district of Milan can quickly become one of the centres of photography in Milan, as far as the Tortona area has been for design"...

A space of 7200 sq.m with 8m height, in fact the largest private room for events of Milan, a Vision Room that dominates the space as an interactive agorà, a giant ledwall of 200 m² and 11m where photos, video art and graphics run...
Superstudio Maxi, super technological and sustainable location will be completely renovated within December, it couldn’t open better its activity with a fair that celebrates art and image, values that have always been in Superstudio’s DNA, together with fashion and design: it is exactly at Superstudio 13, photographic studios open in 1983, that top fashion photography affirms itself with young Italian photographers such as Giovanni Gastel, Fabrizio Ferri, Oliviero Toscani who shoot side by side superstars such as Helmut Newton, Bruce Weber, Herb Ritts, Peter Lindbergh...
MIA has turned on spotlights on photography right in the city of Milan where, unfortunately, there is no dedicated museum-like space yet. And so this is also MIA: a temporary museum of photography that celebrated top authors but who also launched many young talents, supporting an intense activity of collateral events to the exhibiting space. Will a new Zona Moncucco (Moncucco District) be born?
