Cords and colors, those are the hallmarks of Malin Iovino "Expression Through Weave", a designer who specializes in creating distinctive textiles for bags, accessories, and interior furnishings, such as cushions and stools. Her grandmother's ancient weaving technique was used to make this collection.
A familiar story and a world in green. Using a loom technique called snören, Malin Iovino weaves fabrics through elastic cords produced by one of the last Swedish craftsmen. Of infinite shades, they are thicker than the spun fibers commonly used for weaving. The focus is on craftsmanship as an alternative to industrial production: from the sensibly used raw materials to meticulous attention to detail which ensures the beauty and the lasting usage of the artifacts for generations to come. Considering circularity also includes repurposing any leftover pieces of the leather printed into bags, wallets, and key rings: not only a sustainable move, but also one that is artistic, as it associates new graphics and colors with classic items.
