ILARIA MARELLI, MY FASHION WEEK

Architect-designer Ilaria Marelli describes her research into women wear through a digital selection of sculpture dresses, with two installations in MyOwnGallery and in the window-gallery adjacent to the art.box (Superstudio Più, via Tortona 27). A research akin to the Dress Art created by Flavio Lucchini that fits perfectly in his “Fashion Show” exhibition, with original and also immaterial sculptures that celebrate the Made in Italy. Until 13th September, details and schedule on the website: www.myowngallery.it

“My research on women dresses with generous volumes was born a bit for fun during the lockdown period, when the word “physical distancing” was repeated over and over by every media.
Researching inside beauty something able to exorcise the moment of both collective and of course personal anxiety has been a kind of therapy for me... and from link to link I soon found myself – I must say unexpectedly – with a folder full of images, some already known other discovered or rediscovered.
I began to reorganize them for affinity, realizing that the voluminous dress actually marks physical and psychological distancing, that may be interpreted according to precise interpretation keys.
I found out seven, like the 7 days of the week, from here comes the title MY FASHION WEEK.
To conclude, I began to search also in men fashion, yet I managed to – with difficulty – to put together only a “Pilot issue”. I asked myself why?”   Ilaria Marelli

2/NATURAL Dresses that reflect the structures of living organisms in the natural world: crowns of trees, crests, exoskeletons, both protective and attractive frameworks able to create fascinating volumes. ph Roadkill Taxidermy
3/MYSTIC Like angels fallen from heaven, ethereal dresses that embody the distance from the supernatural, from the divine, in the purity of white but also in the mysticism of black. ph Lisbeth Antoine, KTL’s Spring/Summer 2014
4/TECHNICOLOR We live in a world where reality is increasingly filtered by the virtual, colors explode in all their strength as if to transform us into our iridescent avatar, perfect for Instagram. ph Studio XO, Skin-Philips 2014
5/EXOTIC We always need to discover the “other“ from us - even in distant countries that embody a physical and cultural distance, today often only dreamed, since we live in an increasingly globalized world. ph Alessandro Trincone, Spring/Summer 2017
6/ON STAGE The stage - in the distance between the perfomer and the spectator - creates the freedom to represent yourself and your physical boundaries in different ways ... The stage as a place par excellence where you can be. ph Sonia Biacchi customs, 1982/2015
7/ FANTASY Imagination, leads to create fantastic, friendly but also a bit disturbing creatures, in a colorful and adventurous parallel world, and so distant from a daily life that is often grey and monotonous. ph Nick Cave, Soundsuite 2014
0/ABOUT MALE  Some warriors, suits stolen from Magritte paintings, basically, for a man, a smartwatch is enough to keep distance. However I like to think that the man – more connected to reality than us – lives distance through the woman as an object of his dream and desire, and for this medium for a different reality. Mareunrol’s, Autumn/Winter 14/15
