"Now that I think about it...'getting your hands in' as it happens in the artworks on display production, it’s perhaps a bond with my mother, which I lost at a young age, who gave me her pleasure of making little practical things (while certainly my father was the culture pleasure ideal man)".  Ilaria Marelli is an architect, designer and lecturer at Milan Polytechnic. I met her, a little more than young lady, just graduated, when she came to Superstudio with that Giulio Cappellini talent-scout, who wanted her near him for the first exhibition here. I found her, shortly after, as one of the Milano Donna award’s winners which I designed for the municipality on request by Letizia Moratti, at the time our Milan female mayor. She is now an established professional in wide areas of creativity: art direction, product design, interior and exhibit design for international companies for which she interprets the brand identity through engaging narrative paths. Twenty years after our first meeting she designs products and collections for important brands such as Foscarini, Tivoli Audio, Como Audio, Cappellini, Nemo, Fiam, Zanotta... but also designs unique pieces for international exhibitions. And from there she ranges in broader collaborations such as the art direction of some exhibition sections of Pitti Immagine, designing installations for the main international design fairs. She finds intriguing fashion like many other things and I wanted her recently in MyOwnGallery for My Fashion Week exhibition, a search for sculptural dresses with images and videos that kept, with art, the "social distance". Interested in design sociocultural aspects, she also promoted the first cohousing project in Italy, she was Lecturer in Design Innovation at Milan Polytechnic. Meanwhile, that young and lively unknown architect has earned other awards such as the Alumni Polimi Award in 2015, and the Honorable Mention at Grandesign Etico Award in 2019. But life gave her the most beautiful prize nine years ago and his name is Orlando.
