FLAVIO LUCCHINI: PAINTINGS & MORE

What are the origins of sculptures? According to Flavio Lucchini it certainly arises from an idea that turns into a sketch, than into a design, materializing itself in a painting, eventually occupying the space in its three dimensions. The exhibition “FLAVIO LUCCHINI: PAINTINGS & MORE” in MyOwnGallery (Superstudio’s gallery) illustrates this path behind Toys sculptures. The photos have been taken by Angelica Cantù Rajnoldi, a young photographer of great sensivity. There are also other paintings, never exposed to the public, and small sculptures in addition to an immaterial experience to live with your own smartphone.

Paintings: only the soul of dresses Switching from the graphics of his first works to the art-direction of fashion magazines, he was stunned by the change of the femininity ideal that was increasingly deleting the traditional morphology in favor of a new conception of modern beauty. Coherently, but also impatiently and with curiosity, Flavio Lucchini explores the feminine dress and everything it stands for, beyond the ephemeral of the fashion world. His artworks pay homage to creativity, beauty, woman using wisely different expressive means, in a completely personal journey that takes inspiration from Canova to Jeff Koons”. Dress details, urban totem, dolls, idealized women turning into resin, bronze, steel sculptures, paintings, digital-prints, bas relief that speak to us of art, but also of fashion, design, society, past and future. A look to capture the mystery, from the high fashion to burkas, created between 1990 and 2020.
Toys: the child inside of us. Everyone wishes to turn back to childhood, discover life and play naturally and on instinct with whatever you come across. Childhood is tenderness, poetry, joy of living, a game. Once he stopped looking at dresses with the “professional” art director’s point of view, he switched to art and game and created Toys. He felt like playing and using fashion as a puzzle made of many closed together pieces. They are colorful, festive, cheerful toy-sculptures. They are dresses made of many colored cubes in resin and chalk for big dimensions.
