As the fashion spotlights dim, another major week, sponsored by the Municipality of Milan, arrives in town. From March 2 to 8, Milano MuseoCity will involve 149 museums and cultural venues—including public, private, and corporate museums, foundations, and artist archives—to guide the public in discovering an extraordinary Milan. An extensive program of special openings, exhibitions, meetings, and collaborations, to which our FLA Museum contributes with extended opening hours, guided tours, and a concluding event celebrating the Tortona District.
The museum will remain open with extended hours throughout the week, offering daily guided tours dedicated to the "Fashion R-Evolution" by Flavio Lucchini. Visitors can explore over 650 works set up in 20 themed rooms, showcasing dialogues between art and fashion through large sculptures, bas-reliefs, paintings created with traditional or experimental techniques, digital paintings, graphic works, and small or gigantic totems.
In the ground floor Atelier, an HD screening of the video story "La Moda in Altro Modo" (Fashion in Another Way) will be shown every hour. This valuable documentary about the artist is directed by Giovanni Gastel, in collaboration with Oliviero Toscani.
The week concludes with a special event celebrating the main theme of MuseoCity 2025, "The Streets of Art". Gisella Borioli, founder and creative director of Superstudio, will present a lively and engaging talk dedicated to one of the most iconic phenomena of contemporary Milan, zona Tortona. A journey through past and future will reveal how Superstudio, a pioneer since 1983, helped transform a peripheral industrial area into a vibrant cultural hub. Today, zona Tortona boasts the highest concentration of museums, galleries, artists’ and photographers’ studios, communication agencies, event venues, and, of course, the beating heart of Milan Design Week.
Guests of the talk, Fortunato D’Amico, architect and curator of the Terzo Paradiso/SuperOrtoPiù project by Michelangelo Pistoletto, created ten years ago for Expo and still visible on the Roof of Superstudio; Bros, one of the first street artists to hold a major solo exhibition in Milan, welcomed by Superstudio in 2008 when street art struggled to find space and credibility; Pier Paolo Pitacco, an award-winning art director who has run his creative studio CentoxCento in the area for over 40 years.
