BOOK PRIDE. A MAXI SUCCESS

2019-2022. After a two-year break, last weekend Book Pride made the headlines in Milan with almost 12.000 visitors in just three days. What’s the plus? A new location where culture is practiced differently.

A moltitude of initiatives (moltitude is also the theme of the 6th edition) involving more than 200 exhibitors, 469 guests and almost 200 talks throughout the weekend: a show of variety, from the most engaged interventions, as Pesto alla genovese by the photoreporter Luciano del Castillo, who shot one of the most iconic photos of the 2001 Genoa G8, to the beautiful series Le parole delle canzoni in which Treccani plots the evolution of our societies through a selection of songs by contemporary songwriters.
Book Pride is a fascinating and exciting cultural event, the true festival of independent reading in Italy.  And the young answered the call, mainly. We went there, and immersed ourselves in the feast-like atmosphere, also purchasing many (maybe too many) books.
After Base, Mudec, and Fabbrica del Vapore (where previous Milanese editions happened), this time the voice of culture raised from Superstudio Maxi, for the second time since its opening in September (the first was during the Salone della cultura). Superstudio Maxi retains its soul of factory by exposing structural elements and choosing white as the colour of its candid signature. “Superstudio Maxi is gradually turning into the reference point of the Barona area, the cultural industry and place where citizens know they can find their passions” says the co-founder, Gisella Borioli.
