Like its siblings — Three Totem at Superstudio 13, Haute Couture at Superstudio Più and Divine at Superstudio Maxi — it springs from the vision of Flavio Lucchini, artist and co-founder of the Superstudio universe. These monumental presences, each with a personality of its own, turn arrival at our venues into an encounter with art.
“My sculptures speak of fashion. They pay tribute to the brilliance of designers and creative minds, while also bearing witness to the evolution of contemporary society, which clothing, particularly women’s clothing, so precisely reflects,” says Lucchini.
The latest arrival, eight metres tall and made of Corten steel, made its debut during an evening dedicated to Spirit de Milan, which since 2011 has invited Milanese audiences to rediscover the pleasure of dancing through the music and atmosphere of bygone eras. Currently on hold because of the widely reported property issues, its spirit came alive again at the Village, with a live orchestra and the joy of being together.
Big Totem’s unveiling had its own special soundtrack: music composed expressly for the occasion using artificial intelligence by the multifaceted French artist Pierre Amour. An encounter between the physical substance of sculpture and the possibilities of new technologies, between memory and the future.
At Superstudio Village, the arts come together. And this time, they invite us to dance.
