OBLONG LAUNCHES THE THIRTY X THIRTY PROJECT

Posted by: Alessandra Quattordio

An original initiative by Oblong, the gallery recently opened in Forte dei Marmi and Dubai as a bridge between Italy and the Middle East, asked ten of the artists represented, including Flavio Lucchini, to specifically create a unique about "Thirty for Thirty" dimension work, that is also a tangible thought about what Covid-19 left us. Opening Saturday August 8 in Forte dei Marmi.

Numerology is said to be infallible. Three is a golden number, sacred, which encloses the extraordinary powers of energy, creativity, the ability to regenerate and grow. And Three are the sides of the triangle, a geometric figure with ancient meanings, a metaphor for the encounter between Heaven, Earth and Man.From the Mayan civilization to the symbolic universes closest to us, the references recur frequently and often return analogous, even if in disparate places and contexts. Must such ancient wisdom be linked today to a contemporary art exhibition? Perhaps not. Or maybe yes, if we consider the art and the gesture that underlies it, bearers of timeless values...

Or maybe yes, if we consider the art and the gesture that underlies it, bearers of timeless values. Kandinskij made the triangle as the leitmotif of many abstract paintings rich in spiritualism, Aldo Rossi introduced it among the constituent elements of architectural projects full of archetypes, always current.
Here, at Oblong Contemporary Art Gallery, “Trenta per Trenta - Le infinite forme dell’Arte“ ("Thirty for Thirty - The infinite forms of Art") opens, an exhibition of ten artists, each commissioned to create a work that responds to these measures. A work each, ten in all, to seal, even in different forms, a lasting pact with collectors, the latter directly involved in Oblong's life for affinity of taste and art habits.
Emanuela Venturini and Paola Marucci of Oblong, a gallery inaugurated a year ago in Forte dei Marmi, twinned with the homonymous headquarters created in Dubai (Bluewaters) last October, wanted to launch a friendly challenge, kicking off the summer season with this collective exhibition set up next to Igor Mitoraj's solo exhibition “Essere Mito” ("Being Myth"), organized until 20 September in the new spaces that have been added to the gallery this summer, duplicating the surface. In order to produce a series of unique works, which will remain in memory of a very particular era, they thus brought together some of the artists culturally close to them, and, in particular, Stefano Bombardieri, Vanni Cuoghi, Roberta Dazzi, Resi Girardello, Oki Izumi, Tiziana Lorenzelli, Flavio Lucchini, Antonio Nocera, Sonia Quaroni, and Serero Pop Art.
The poetics of each one, expressed thanks to "in nuce" works, stands as an alchemical synthesis of formal, technical and material languages, as well as a triangulation tool useful for fixing the spatial, expressive and emotional relationships that bind together the Three engines of art: precisely, artist, gallerist and collector.
