TO OTHER 25 YEARS OF HAPPY DESIGN

FORUM8. SHALL WE GO TO THE MOON?

Since 2022, FORUM8 has been bringing some of Japan’s most advanced software technologies to the Superdesign Show—and this is where the magic begins. The concept of Empowering Happiness Through Web 4.0 aims to foster a culture of well-being and safety by harnessing the power of Web 4.0 and artificial intelligence, now deeply embedded in our reality. The exhibition area seems to project visitors fifty years into the future, captivating even the most skeptical about AI’s growing presence. Autonomous driving simulators, earthquake simulation tools, and fire evacuation analysis systems offer new ways to approach daily life with more awareness and safety, anticipating changes in critical sectors. But FORUM8 goes even further—lifting our feet off the ground: visitors can experience the future of lunar missions through immersive digital technologies. Once again this year, wonder and amazement accompany a journey through extraordinary innovations, offering a glimpse of what the future may hold.

GERMAN NATIONAL TOURIST BOARD. DISCOVERING BAUHAUS

So much history from Walter Gropius’s early 20th-century Bauhaus to the present day. Cultureland Germany: A Design Journey, presented by the German National Tourist Board, begins with the Bauhaus movement and comes to life through iconic objects, videos, and multimedia installations. From a miniature wooden model of the first Bauhaus house in Weimar to Peter Keler’s Bauhaus cradle, colorful wooden building blocks, and Wilhelm Wagenfeld’s table lamp—all part of the collection of the Bauhaus Museum Weimar. The journey continues with stone constructions inspired by Bauhaus ideals, the poetic Lucellino lamp by Ingo Maurer, and furniture from Tecta (official producer of Bauhaus pieces). Highlights include the re-edition of Walter Gropius’s iconic armchair, Marcel Breuer’s folding chair reinterpreted with innovative materials, and the K10 table, a pure example of Bauhaus philosophy. A multimedia area with an interactive touchscreen map takes visitors to the most significant destinations of design, such as Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt.

HABITS. A NEW WAY OF THINKING ABOUT FOOD

Light Bites—literally “bites of light”—is a collection of tableware where plates and glasses are equipped with sensors and light sources that react to both food and diners’ gestures, turning them into actors on a constantly evolving imaginary stage. Thanks to a technological magic well known to the designers at Habits, who surprise us year after year, the light shifts in color and intensity based on the ingredients on the plate and the guest's movements, becoming an essential part of the eating experience, making it more conscious and contemplative. Habits, active since 2004, brings together a team of industrial designers, engineers, and visual and interior designers who collaborate with companies to create timeless products and experiences. For this occasion, the food is curated by the chefs at Altatto, a renowned vegetarian and vegan fine dining restaurant in Milan, emphasizing the natural essence of each ingredient.
