WE LOVE IT ON PAPER!

The eleventh edition of BookCity, the initiative initiated by the City of Milan and the BookCity Milano Association in collaboration with the AIB (Italian Library Association) and the ALI (Italian Booksellers Association) has come to an end. Milan after four days full of dialogues and performances, readings and shows, meetings and workshops, but above all many presentations for readers of all tastes.

Proving how wrong it is to define paper publishing as obsolete in favor of "digital reading," BookCity Milano continues to grow and expand beyond the borders of the city center, for those who love the world of books, BookCity Milano is an opportunity to return, in all its variety, the Italian literary and cultural landscape: a colorful and dynamic, inclusive and participatory image, from the city and all the actors who, in different capacities, recognize themselves in the great world of books.
This year, for the first time since the pandemic, the event ( returned to the city in its traditional free-entry mode, populating the places of culture and opening the doors of its venues wide to the public: libraries, bookstores, museums, theaters, schools and universities, prisons and hospitals, condo libraries and social venues, clubs and associations, and gathering spaces, filled with readers of all ages. There were more than 140,000 visitors, book and reading lovers who took part in the event, filling the meeting rooms and populating the city streets, attending the 1,300 events of the rich calendar, more than 400 volunteers. Online participation was also high, with more than 385,000 users reached by BCM social channels, which from this year also include a Tik Tok profile, adding to the approximately 468,848 page views.
