For its 40th anniversary in 2023, Superstudio has created an Academy conceived, desired and curated by Gisella Borioli, co-founder and CEO of the group, looking to the future: what to do with all the knowledge and expertise gained in forty years of activity in the world of events, art and design? What to do so that unwavering commitment, highly successful initiatives, creativity and all-round culture are not only not lost, but continuously vitalized? There is no better way to preserve and, more importantly, re-enact, history, heritage and skills than by making them available to those who are eager to learn to work profitably in the field of cultural events.
Professionals who bring Superstudio to life in its various aspects, as well as collaborators and visiting professors are available to students of MADEM, Master of Arts and Design Management at the School of Management of LUM University, to deliver a module focused on event organization with specific focus on design. More specifically, the focus of the February/March course will be on the conception and day-to-day management of the Superdesign Show, the annual event that has given rise to Milan Design Week since 2000.
Superdesign Show, born at Superstudio Più on Via Tortona in Milan, continues to this day to be an industry benchmark thanks to an original “less fair and more museum” approach. Projects, participants, companies, products and themes are placed year after year in artistic and cultural contexts that enhance their visions and intentions.
There’s a big distance between school and work; students often, despite thorough theoretical preparation, arrive unprepared to handle the daily challenges of practical activity; what is lacking is experience. While it is to be expected that a recent graduate is still immature, inexperienced, and in need of mentors to help them grow, it is perhaps possible to intervene upstream by offering training that takes into account the concrete needs of the workplace and that, through opportunities of dialogue with professionals and hands-on activities, enables students to gain awareness and real skills so that they arrive from the very start better prepared and qualified.
Bridging this gap is the goal of the Superstudio Academy, which joins forces with LUM University to offer young people, as well as professionals, quality, high-level training that enriches theoretical lectures with practical experience, meetings with experts and the exciting opportunity to actively participate behind the scenes of the Superdesign Show to learn from the inside how it works and grasp the secret of its success.
The Master's program is delivered in English and is held at LUM's Milan campus, except for the Superstudio module, which is held directly at Via Tortona 27, the epicenter of the Design District.
Superstudio Academy and LUM University put in the expertise; good ideas, commitment and perseverance are expected from the students. Registration for the 2025-2026 academic year is open these very weeks. Top-notch teaching, excellent faculty, hands-on approach, networking, international environment, efficient placement service, so why wait?
