The International center of Outdoor Sculpture is visited every year by thousands of tourists fascinated by the botanical treasure kept in the promontory and is set up in the terraced garden of the Castle of Baron von Mumm, giving life, since the 80s, to the Park’s Museum of Portofino.
It hosts important works, donations of many international artists who have left a mark creating an original place where culture is breathed in the middle of nature with the view of the sea and the magical setting.
A “White Doll” by Flavio Lucchini reaches about one hundred and fifty sculptures made by famous contemporary artists such as Arman, Alviani, Azuma, Beyus, Bombardieri, Consagra, Cucchi, Dorfles, Galliani, Lodola, Mondino, Pomodoro, Rotella, Spalletti, but also legends such as Fontana, Manzù, Munari, Oppenehim, Depero, Guttuso, Man Ray, and many more.
The white “doll” made in fiberglass and finished with a special “marine” paint prepared by Boero, nautical division, to protect it from the salt and weather like a yatch, is part of the series Dolls, colorful neopop sculptures that pay homage to the youth and innocence of young girls just before they turn into women.
However, Flavio Lucchini wanted the sculpture to be white, a “piece unique” that detaches itself from the context.
White Doll will be installed in the Museum of Portofino on Saturday, July 24, in the presence of President Daniele Crippa and the Curator Serena Mormino.
