Interactions with art have always been a hallmark of Superstudio Più, located on Via Tortona, which has fostered collaboration and integration among different forms of creativity and communication since its inception. During Design Week, this becomes a strength and a mark of excellence, underscoring its uniqueness.
In particular, Superstudio’s museum—the FLA, Flavio Lucchini Art Museum—is a large and unexpected exhibition space dedicated to works by the Group’s founder. These pieces speak of fashion, beauty, creativity, past, and future. During Milan Design Week, the museum transforms into a captivating location, hosting special design projects enhanced by dialogue with the surrounding artworks.
This has been the case for Carla Tolomeo's sculptural armchairs, Cappellini's bold and iconic pieces, Mara Bragagnolo's furniture designed for autistic children, and Rubelli’s artist-crafted armchairs painted by Lucchini upon the request of designers Nava/Arosio. For 2025, design and art will expand to other points, bringing visitors an extra dose of happiness.
This year’s Happiness theme for Superdesign Show 2025 encourages joyful collaborations. Designers’ imaginations can inspire visionary installations by positioning products throughout this magical location, leading seamlessly to the end of the Superstudio Più visitor route.
- The FLA is the largest space, a true contemporary art museum housed in the evocative setting of General Electric’s air-raid shelters from the 1940s, a structure with fascinating architecture. The museum features two exhibition levels. On the ground floor, a bright and elegant atelier can house an entire collection of tall and large-scale objects. The lower level, accessible via a large elevator, comprises various rooms showcasing a design journey where individual pieces are unveiled as sculptures, installed alongside paintings and sculptures reflecting cultural movements from the last 50 years. The FLA is a space for art, encounters, study, and culture, adding to Superstudio Più's rich offerings. It provides numerous benefits, including dedicated art direction in collaboration with exhibitors, a talk area for virtual presentations, a small outdoor space for refreshments and informal gatherings, and a wide selection of artworks serving as a potential backdrop for design product installations.
Beyond the FLA, Superstudio offers other avenues to merge art and design.
- Art.Box is a street-facing showcase next to Superstudio’s entrance, serving as the event’s calling card and introducing the concept of Happiness in contemporary design.
- MyOwnGallery is a minimalist yet elegant art gallery that has hosted major international brands like Samsung, Veuve Clicquot, LG Electronics, and Kaneka. Located immediately after the entrance and registration area, it’s the first space visitors encounter.
- The Roof is a stunning 700 sqm terrace ideal for selective exhibitions, private events, receptions, temporary initiatives, artistic installations, presentations, speeches, and entertainment. The renovated outdoor space offers a panoramic view of the Tortona District and features Michelangelo Pistoletto’s Third Paradise ground installation, seamlessly integrated into the surroundings.
Superdesign Show invites designers, companies, artists, creatives, institutions, and visionaries to apply for participation in art-related spaces (Art.Box, MyOwnGallery, Roof, FLA Museum).
