After working for years as a model with legendary photographers and international brands, the point of view reverses and Keila Guilarte begins to look at the world from behind the lens to discover the deeper side of things. And in doing so, she reconnects with her Cuba, left behind many years earlier.
Each image is a vibrant, true encounter whose vitality and beauty emerges with force and immediacy among the wrinkles of an old man, in the feet of a dancer, among boys joking on the Malecón, in the face of a sorceress or in a suburban shack. A personal diary of unstolen, unposted images of his Cuba emerges. From which comes the book Mi Tierra, which has just been published by SilvanaEditoriale and which, for the first time and for one night only, is transformed in Milan into a photographic exhibition open to the public set up in the spaces of the Moscova District Market and curated by Patrizia Madau.
All proceeds realized from the sale of the book will be donated to AICEC, Agency for Cultural and Economic Interchange with Cuba.
INFO: Keila Guilarte, Mi Tierra, exhibition event presenting the book published by SilvanaEditoriale Tuesday, Nov. 29, 5-8 p.m., Moscova District Market, Via Alessandro Volta 7/A, Milan. Free and free admission.
