SMALL OPEN AIR ROOMS

Posted by: Donatella Bollani

A small green space has become the dream of Italians who have understood how smart-working and possible new lockdown would benefit. Many architects are already working to propose their solutions. The multifunctional proposal by Sandro Meneghello and Marco Paolelli, young and already established designers who concentrate a lot of their design on the outdoors, has all the characteristics to satisfy the most varied needs. Probably yours too.

"Balconies also have an important real estate value in the city", Marco Paolelli, of the Meneghello Paolelli Associati studio tells us, "We therefore asked ourselves why not work on a system that would enhance them easily, with a simple assembly and a wide versatility of construction". The health crisis that followed the project made all the spaces that allowed to be outdoors even more precious. Thus was born Urban Balcony, the project for Unopiù, recently presented in its first version but already engineered also in the "extended" version.
"We worked by breaking down the day into different moments - meals, relax, entertainment, groundskeeping, study and work - and we tried to find an arrangement configuration that would respond to many of these moments simultaneously". T
The system is technically composed of a modular structure in iroko, a precious and high quality wood, perfect for outdoor use, given the extremely resistant characteristics, which can be fixed to the wall or ceiling, which acts as a support for a series of accessories in white aluminum: planters, vases, small cabinets, shelves, worktop, clothesline, shielding panels and covers. All customizable and configurable, to make this domestic space versatile and able to define a new identity from time to time.
"We worked on the wooden structure which resembles a ladder, available in different sizes and which can also be a structural support for making small covers, in different materials". Unopiù confirmed its attention to the contents of the project; to an idea of a product-system capable of proposing multiple micro-furnishing solutions, dedicated to those who want to renovate small outdoor spaces which, however small, give us moments of great well-being.
