"Let's reopen Made in Italy": this is the title of the eight-point manifesto drawn up by FederlegnoArredo, published on Saturday 11th April in some of the main Italian newspapers.

With this appeal to the government the Federation, which represents wood and furniture industry, calls for the safety of workers to be safeguarded without compromising even more the survival of an excellence of our country. We will briefly look at these eight points of the Manifesto by FederlegnoArredo.

•  Plan and formalize the reopening date of the entire wood-furniture industry with all its Ateco codes to avoid losing orders and international relations that risk to favor, irremediably, competitors of other currently open countries such as Germany and France...

•  Plan and formalize the reopening date of the entire wood-furniture industry with all its Ateco codes to avoid losing orders and international relations that risk to favor, irremediably, competitors of other currently open countries such as Germany and France.
•  The companies of wood-furniture industry are already equipped with rigorous tools and safety protocols that ensure adequate levels of protection and containment of contagion, in full compliance with the "Regulatory Protocol on measures to combat and contain the spread of Covid-19 virus in working environments" in force since 14 March.
• Smart working will continue to be used to increase the degree of security, in expectation of  a gradual recovery and integration of activities not strictly "productive".
• Reopen also the sales points of furniture and interior design, office furniture, lighting, solar shading, bathroom furniture-accessories, fixtures, timber, panels, in full compliance with the rules of safety and hygiene prevention.
• Restart the activities of the warehouses and the logistics, in order to allow the storage of all that material currently in transit from countries for which it has not been possible to foresee the stop of shipments.
Reopen construction sites, ensuring all health safety.
• The companies of the wood-furniture sector will be very correct in compliance with the commitments made to suppliers: utmost seriousness on the part of the companies in respecting the payments towards the own suppliers within the limits of the available resources as was done for the expirations of the end of March.
• Willingness to collaborate with institutions, creating sounding boards for design and experimentation of technological tools and applications that can map and better contain the spread of the virus.
"Design doesn’t give up": the appeal of nine leading companies
Some leading companies in the design sector (B&B Italia, Bisazza, Boffi, Cappellini, Cassina, Flexform, Giorgetti, Molteni Group, Poltrona Frau)  have gathered in a group with the main objective of ensuring the recovery of production to prevent that a great human and social tragedy turns into a consequent industrial and economic tragedy. The companies in the industry have been competing for decades in a global market, populated by global competitors. This month of closing has caused the impossibility for Italian companies to respect who signed store clerks and to honor terms of delivery of the goods previewed in orders and plans.
If the closure were to continue any longer, there are fears for the tightness of the Italian industrial system; many competitors, for example in Germany and Scandinavia, continue in fact to operate regularly during this period and could get contracts and orders that would otherwise go to Italian companies.
For this reason, the companies in furniture and design industry are asking the institutions to be able to start a path of progressive and safe reopening as soon as possible. For their part they assure that there will be the greatest effort to be able to reopen and restart stronger than before, in the awareness that only together can we continue to prosper.
